BetonSports CEO Held in US
Chief Executive Officer David Carruthers, of Betonsports Plc, is being held by US authorities.
According to the BetonSports, the CEO was traveling from the United Kingdom to Costa Rica and the federal authorities detained him as he was changing planes.
The Regulatory News Service had issued an statement that they were clarifying the grounds on which the CEO Carruthers was held.
CEO Caruthers had worked at bookmaker Ladbrokes for the past twenty five years before he had joined BetonSports in the year 2000.
Betonsports is an online gambling company based from London and whose company license includes Antigua.
BetonSports business centers mostly on running a sports book that includes football and also offers online casino games and poker.
And as reported by Bloomberg, the company shares have dropped as much as twenty four percent.
Upon the release of the news that Carruthers was detained, the shares suffered a large drop.
Sportingbet, the online bookmaker that owns the Paradise Poker, had a decline of thirteen percent while in London, the shares experienced a drop of twelve percent.
Meanwhile the largest internet poker company PartyGaming Plc, had a decline of more than four percent.
The BetonSports Company had its initial offering in July of 2004 and raised more than fifty four million pounds.
